چکیده
The commercialization of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) can be significantly promoted with the direct utilization methane, which is primary component in natural gas and second most abundant anthropogenic greenhouse gas. However, carbon deposition on commonly used Ni-based anode bottle-necking issue inhibiting long-term stability methane SOFCs. To avoid such a problem, typically reformed (internally or externally) Considering cost, system simplification, coking resistance, material selection, on-cell catalytic reforming layer (OCRL) one promising designs for Reforming materials are consisted active component, substrate promoter, all have significant impact activity, sintering resistance catalysts. This review summarizes influence various components, some common OCRL their applications SOFCs, mechanism, as well remaining challenges. effective plays pivotal role promoting development SOFCs

Simulation of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell with External Steam Methane Reforming and Bypass
Fuel flexibility is a significant advantage of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and can be attributed to their high operating temperature. The eligibility of a combined heat and power (CHP) system has been investigated as a new power generation methode, in this study. Natural gas fueled SOFC power systems via methane steam reforming (MSR) yield electrical conversion efficiencies exceeding 50% and...
متن کاملTransient studies of perovskite anode catalyst for a direct CH4 Solid Oxide Fuel Cell
Introduction: The direct use of CH4 as the feed to the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) will allow elimination of a reformer, simplifying the SOFC system and decreasing the system cost [1]. The overall reaction on the anode catalyst in the direct CH4 SOFC is the electrochemical oxidation of CH4: CH4 + 4O CO2 + 2H2O + 8e. Due to the nature of hydrocarbon reactions at high temperature and the reducin...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Stack using Direct Reforming Natural Gas
In this study, a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) stack has been successfully fabricated and tested by using direct natural gas. The main objective of this research was to achieve optimal long-term performance of the SOFC stack without carbon deposition by using low-cost natural gas as a fuel. The stack configuration was improved by a new interconnect design and made of cost-effective raw materials...
متن کاملEvaluation of solid oxide fuel cell anode based on active triple phase boundary length and tortuosity
An efficient procedure is presented for the evaluation of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) anode microstructure triple phase boundary length (TPBL). Triple phase boundary- the one that is common between three phases of the microstructure- has a great influence on the overall efficiency of SOFC because all electrochemical reactions of anode take place in its vicinity. Therefore, evaluation of TP...
متن کاملFirst-Principles Modeling of Ni4M (M = Co, Fe, and Mn) Alloys as Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Anode Catalyst for Methane Reforming
In this study, we used quantum mechanics (QM) to investigate steam reforming of methane on Ni-alloy catalyst surfaces and to examine the effect of anode material modifications on the catalytic processes in a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). The conventional Ni anode suffers from coking, coarsening, and sulfur poisoning because of the decomposition of hydrocarbon fuels, Ni particle agglomeration at...
